Invoice Scam

Plan Commission/Community Development Invoice Scam
Posted on 05/22/2025

The Village of Bellevue is alerting residents, developers, and businesses about a fraudulent email scam. These emails falsely claim to be from the Community Development Department, the Plan Commission or the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village. They have been sent from [email protected], which is NOT an official Village of Bellevue email address.

DETAILS OF THE SCAM
The scam email includes a fake invoice requesting payment via wire transfer, which the Village does not accept as a valid payment method. The invoice misuses the Village of Bellevue logo and contains incorrect contact information. While these fraudulent emails are designed to appear official, they are not associated with the Village of Bellevue in any way.

The Village of Bellevue will never ask for payment through wire transfer or gift cards. Any applicant who receives an email requesting payment via wire transfer or gift card for application fees should disregard the email immediately.

Village staff and officials are taking this matter very seriously. To ensure the legitimacy of any application fees, applicants are advised to:

  • Carefully review the sender’s email address. All official Village of Bellevue emails end with @VillageOfBellevueWI.gov.
  • Be cautious of any communication claiming to be from the Village that does not adhere to this format.
  • Never respond to emails requesting payment via wire transfer or gift card.
  • Verify any invoices or communications by directly contacting the Village of Bellevue Community Development Department at (920) 468-5225.
  • Obtain a copy of the official fee schedule from our website: https://www.villageofbellevuewi.gov/cms/one.aspx?portalid=4556055&pageid=4998775.

If you receive a suspicious email regarding the approval of a planning, zoning, or building-related application, or have doubts about the authenticity of any email, please reach out to the Community Development Department at (920) 468-5225.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe from predatory scams.
