The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining village infrastructure and providing essential services that support daily life in Bellevue. This includes maintenance of village streets and right-of-way, as well as operation of the sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water utilities.
The Mission of the Public Works Department is “To improve our residents’ quality of life by providing essential public services that are: Citizen Focused, Quality Driven, and Cost Effective”. The Public Works team is dedicated to serving the community by delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure and services that enhance safety, sustainability, and quality of life for residents and businesses.
Administration
the Department’s operations. The Director oversees all divisions and is responsible for long-range planning, budgeting, policy development, engineering management, and coordination with internal and external partners.
Administration serves as the primary link between Public Works staff, the Executive Leadership Team, and the Village Board, ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities and initiatives. The team consists of the Director, and two part-time administrative assistants, with support from the Street Superintendent, Utility Superintendent, Engineering Technician, Mechanic, eight full-time operator/laborers, and seven seasonal staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advancing department goals and strategic objectives
- Overseeing budgets, policies, and operational performance
- Coordinating across departments and outside agencies
- Supporting employee training, development, and morale
- Implementing continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, and effectiveness
