Community Gardens

The Bellevue Community Garden provides gardening opportunities for the physical and social benefit of our Village residents.

There are community gardens plots available for rental at Josten Park (2280 Town Hall Road) and Moonrise Park (2215 Moonrise Ct.). Our program is administered through the Village, however the garden itself is developed and operated by resident volunteers who rent space to grow fresh produce and flowers.

What are Community Gardens?

Community gardens are places where people can rent, for a small seasonal fee, their own garden plot to raise produce.

These gardens also contribute to a more livable environment, promote a more positive community image, and create opportunities for neighbors to work together. Community gardeners know that gardening and plants are good for people and their neighborhoods.

How are garden plots assigned?

Garden plots are assigned on a first come, first served basis. New plots will be awarded by mid-May. If no plots are available in the garden , you will be put on a waitlist and notified when one becomes available.

Renter’s Responsibilities:

Garden renters are responsible for keeping assigned plots neat and clean.

  • They supply their own seed, fertilizer, and equipment for proper preparation, growing, cultivating and harvesting crops.
  • Renters water their own crops using buckets and without overuse of the water supply.
  • Renters cultivate and/or mulch to control weeds (herbicides and/or pesticides are prohibited).
  • Lastly, renters must take all debris with them, and remove all garden refuse and stakes by October 31 of each year.

How do I sign up?

To rent a garden plot, complete the registration portion of the Community Garden Brochure and submit with payment to the Village of Bellevue, 2828 Allouez Avenue. A confirmation letter will be mailed to that address provided with instructions, rules and policies affecting the community garden.
